Target Markets Cloud

Add city or region context to your visibility checks for location-specific tracking.

What it does

When someone asks an AI engine “best car wash near me,” the answer depends on where they are. Target markets let you add geographic context to your visibility queries so you can track how your brand appears for location-specific searches.

Without target markets, queries are generic (“best car wash”). With target markets, queries become location-aware (“best car wash in Dubai, UAE”).

How queries change

Without target marketWith target market (Dubai, UAE)
“best car wash”“best car wash in Dubai, UAE”
“top Italian restaurants”“top Italian restaurants in Dubai, UAE”
“best personal injury lawyer”“best personal injury lawyer in Dubai, UAE”

For Claude specifically, the location is passed via the native user_location parameter on the web search tool rather than modifying the query text. This gives Claude true location-aware search results.

How to set up

You can add target markets when creating a brand or by editing an existing brand:

  1. During brand creation — After auto-discovery completes, scroll to the Target Markets section and add your locations before saving.
  2. For existing brands — Go to the brand detail page, click edit, and add locations in the Target Markets field.

Enter locations in City, Country format. Examples:

  • Dubai, UAE
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • San Francisco, USA
  • London, UK

How each engine handles location

EngineLocation handling
PerplexityLocation appended to query text. Web search results are location-filtered.
ChatGPTLocation appended to query text. Uses Bing index location signals from training data.
GeminiLocation appended to query text. Benefits from Google Maps and Google Business Profile data.
ClaudeNative user_location parameter on web search tool — the cleanest implementation.
GrokLocation appended to query text. X/Twitter data may include geo-tagged posts.

When to use

Use target markets for

  • Local businesses — Restaurants, salons, mechanics, clinics
  • Regional services — Law firms, real estate agencies, consultancies
  • Multi-location brands — Track each city separately to compare performance
  • Franchises — Monitor visibility per franchise location

Leave empty for

  • Global SaaS products — Location is not relevant for “best project management software”
  • E-commerce brands — Unless you have region-specific inventory
  • Digital products — Software, apps, online courses

When no target markets are set, queries run without location context, which gives you global Agent Search Visibility results.

Multiple locations

You can add up to 10 target markets per brand. Each location generates a separate set of queries across all your keywords and engines.

Credit impact: More locations means more queries. A brand with 5 keywords, 3 engines, and 3 target markets generates 5 x 3 x 3 = 45 queries per run (times the number of frequency runs). Plan your target markets based on where your business actually operates.

Results are aggregated into Agent Search Visibility, and you can see per-location breakdowns in the check detail view.
